I was okay. Really, I was. Until I opened the poem that my Kindergartener’s teacher left for all the parents. Thank goodness it was scrolled up and I didn’t read it until I was out of the school. It was about how starting Kindergarten was such a big step and that as a teacher, she would take good care of our daughter. I bit my lip all the way back to the car. Sheesh. Good thing that my two kids were so thrilled to be starting a new year… tears were the last thing on their mind this morning.
The start of the day (and all of the first day photos posted on Facebook) got me to thinking – when are we given the opportunity for a fresh start? I mean creatively. And that’s the beauty of our business! Each and every day is a new beginning… whether its bringing life into a new idea, looking at a project from a different angle, trying a different way to solve a recurring ad or just starting fresh on a new piece of business. It’s exhilarating, really. So I charge you with this: approach every day as if it’s your first day of school. If you bring that enthusiasm with you to work, you’re going to rub off on your co-workers. Then you will all be smiling. And creativity will fully flow. Like my tears from this morning.
